Success! PROTECT’S bill passes! Thanks to all of you!
Just minutes ago, Congress passed the PROTECT Our Children Act.
It was a long, hard campaign… one that started with committed PROTECT members like you and then grew to over half a million Americans after it was featured on the Oprah Winfrey show. Many Washington insiders said we would never win. We wanted you to be the first to know that we did!
As our campaign showed America, law enforcement now knows how to locate and stop hundreds of thousands of criminals who assault children and traffic in child pornography. But despite years of empty rhetoric from politicians, less than 2% of these cases are even being investigated. That begins to change today, with the passage of the PROTECT Our Children Act.
In the coming days, we’ll share many of the details about this landmark bill and how it was passed. But we didn’t want you to wait to hear this news. Please take time today to celebrate what we’ve accomplished together, because this never would have happened without you!

DOWN WITH THE GOVERNMENT!!!! THEY WANT TO PASS ALL THESE BILLS, WATCHING US MORE AND MORE, GIVING US LESS AND LESS PRIVACY! THEY WANT TO SPEND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHEN WE DON’T HAVE THE MONEY, THEY WANT TO MAKE US PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE’S MISTAKE AND THAT IS WRONG!
DOWN WITH THE GOVERNMENT, THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT THE AVERAGE PERSON, THE LOWERMIDDLE CLASS PERSON, TRYING TO MAKE ENDS MEET. All you hear about is how the taxes affect the poor, or the wealthy. When, in reality, THAT MAKES NO SENSE. I don’t know, all I know is that this country is f-ed up.

Jess, this bill wasnt the Government’s idea, it was PROTECT’s Idea! and it is meant to help protect children from interent predators!
I would ordinarily agree with you that the Government is overly harsh toward the little guy, but in this case, it was a miracle that the bill passed…..You probably dont have a clue about what it is like to be molested (lucky you) but if you ever had been, I think you might have a different take on this bill.

No, I don’t know what it’s like to actually be molested. Not exactly anyway – long story. Weird shit has happened, but that’s my own damn fault.
And I probably wouldn’t have a different take on the bill. At least I would hope not.
And of course whatever ire is probably was misplaced. I don’t know, my brain is broken.
Whatever you go through in your childhood only makes you stronger as an adult, as clearly evidenced by these blogs. I’m not saying it’s right, but I wish people would just stop trying to control everything and let nature run its course.

Jess, if you’re not using the internet to look at exploitative pictures of children being sexually molested, then its NOT YOU being monitored. If you were ever a victim, I would HOPE you’d applaud measures to insure other children’s safety……

did you know that Freud basically felt all human endeavors arose from sexual expression or repression? Perhaps Freud might have approved of this bill also…..

well, since he was in the business of trying to help people overcome their issues, I’d say pedophilia would have been something he wouldnt condone.
